Supporting Mental Health Awareness Week at Boydens

by Paul Buck

At Boydens, we believe that looking after our mental wellbeing is just as important as looking after our physical health. As a family-owned estate and letting agents that has proudly served North Essex and Suffolk since 1966, people have always been at the heart of what we do, and that includes our own team.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we want to highlight the importance of mental wellbeing in the workplace and share some of the steps we take to support our staff all year round.

Maintaining a Culture of Care

Mental health can affect anyone, at any time. That’s why we’re committed to maintaining a supportive environment where our colleagues feel safe, valued and heard.

All of our managers receive specific mental wellbeing training so they’re equipped to recognise when a team member might be struggling, and to know how best to offer help. We believe that early conversations can make a real difference, and that it’s important for everyone to know they don’t have to face things alone.

Our Director of Sales and Lettings is a qualified Mental Health First Aider. This means there is always someone at a senior level who is trained to support our staff, offering a listening ear and signposting to appropriate professional help when needed.

Why Mental Wellbeing Matters

Promoting positive mental health isn’t just the right thing to do, it also helps us to be a better business. When our staff feel supported, they’re more engaged, more resilient, and better able to provide the high-quality service our clients have come to expect from Boydens.

Whether we’re helping people find their perfect home or guiding them through a move, we know that our team’s wellbeing plays a key role in delivering excellent service with care and empathy.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we encourage everyone, clients, colleagues and our wider community to take a moment to check in on their mental wellbeing. Be kind to yourself, and don’t be afraid to reach out if you need support.
